IS THIS THE BUS AND TRUCK OF TITANIC. . .

Last night's show was a first and most likely a last for me. During 'Beautiful Morning' the first tune of the show I heard what sounded like a water bottel rolling somewhere in the pit. I just assumed it was our drummer Gregg's. He's always doing this sort of thing. (Well not really but I was just hoping he'd read this and get a little peeved.)

After a few seconds of the rolling sound I heard a massive crash behind me. We tried to see what had happened but couldn't really see anything in particular wrong. Our pit rat Steve went and fetched our TD. By a strange coincidence our light board happened to crash during the first scene. It got stuck in one cue. We decided we had to take a brief intermission and stop the show.

When the show stopped I turned around and looked into the house. The chunk of seats dead center and directly behind me had dropped about 10 inches. Even though we really stopped for lighting issues we had to hold while the 36 people in those seats were evacuated. I guess a riser had given out and collapsed.

Oh, the joys of live theatre. To show up for a nice musical comedy and have to take a trip in the 'Tower of Terror'. It's an evening I can easily say I will never forget. (Even with my bad short and long term memory. Maybe my Ginko Biloba is working after all. . . )
